Con base en Madrid, pero con miembros de Guadalajara, durante los primeros años, la banda grabó 2 maquetas no oficiales, y luego fue en 2004 cuando graban su primera demo oficial, titulada 3 Views of an End: A Trip to Nowhere. En 2005 debutan con su LP A Step Through the Reflection. Antes de esto, en 2006, grabaron el EP que hoy reseñamos, Gea, aunque nunca se editó. La idea que tenía la banda era publicar este trabajo por internet gratuitamente, pero todo se quedó en agua de borrajas. En 2008 además, giraron por Europa, por países como Francia, Suiza u Holanda. Después editarían su segundo álbum de estudio, en 2008 y titulado Ars Subtilior from Within the Cage. En 2014 grabarían su tercer álbum, titulado The Love Album – Volume I. No es hasta mitad del pasado año 2015 cuando la banda decide editar el EP Gea, que contiene 4 temas y ronda los 20 minutos de duración. La prensa especializada en los sonidos más experimentales ha elogiado a AS LIGHT DIES por su eclecticismo y elegancia a la hora de combinar sonidos e instrumentos tan variopintos, que, a priori, no deberían de concordar en absoluto. Su estilo es totalmente inclasificable, ya que juegan con sonidos orquestales, black, death, doom, gothic, sinfónicos… incluyen instrumentos como violines, flautas barrocas, didgeridoos o buzukis.
